Stoughton man identified in fatal Oct. 4 motorcycle crash

Morley Rendmeister III, 36, of Stoughton, was killed and a 58-year-old woman was injured Monday afternoon after Rendmeister apparently lost control of his motorcycle on Hwy. 138 and was struck by the woman’s car.

According to a Dane County Sheriff’s Department news release, deputies, along with Stoughton police, fire and EMS personnel, were dispatched at around 2:40 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4, for an injury crash on Hwy. 138 near Hogie Road in the Town of Dunkirk.

Preliminary investigation discovered Rendmeister was heading south on his motorcycle when he lost control, crossing over into oncoming traffic, where he was struck by the woman, driving a Buick Encore. He was pronounced dead at the scene, while the woman was transported to Stoughton Hospital with minor non-life threatening injuries.
