The Navy League of the United States, Madison Council, is holding its Annual Army-Navy Game Social and Fundraiser at the Otis Sampson American Legion Post 59, 803 N. Page St., from 1-6 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 11. The event is open to the public and admission is free.

This year, the Madison Council is donating proceeds from the event’s 50/50 raffle and basket raffle to Fisher House Wisconsin, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that is working to build a Fisher House near the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison.

A Fisher House is “a home away from home” for families of patients receiving medical care at major military and VA medical centers, according to a news release from the Navy League. Many families travel from long distances to receive care or to be with their loved ones during medical treatment.

Families often face the burden of finding lodging while trying to be by the side of their hospitalized loved one. A Fisher House on the Madison VA campus or within proximity of the medical center would make lodging accommodations available and at no cost to guests.

People are invited to come and watch the Navy Midshipmen and the Army Black Knights on the big screen in the American Legion Hall. Chili, brats and all the fixings will be available for $10 per person.

Companies or individuals interested in donating baskets for the raffle should contact Lisa Kromanaker at
