When it comes to Vietnam veterans it is never too late to say “thank you.”

More than 30 Stoughton-area Vietnam veterans were recognized and presented with a service pin during a ceremony held at the Stoughton VFW on March 29, the 50th anniversary of the last U.S. troops to leave Vietnam, and the ending of that war.

But not all area veterans were able to attend.

So Stoughton’s VFW Post 328 and American Legion Post 59 teamed up again to honor those veterans during services held Thursday, May 10 at Skaalen Retirement Services in Stoughton.

Stoughton Mayor Tim Swadley, American Legion Post 59 Commander Michael Currie, and VFW Post 328 Commander Rob Drogsvold were on hand to honor five more veterans - William Wendt, Arthur Heidecke, Ed Olson, Robert Bennett and Ed Ripp.- and present them with a Vietnam service pin before heading across the hallway for some coffee, doughnuts and camaraderie.
