St. Ann School’s Drama Club is set to perform “The Jungle Book: KIDS” May 20-21 at the Stoughton High School Performing Arts Center.
The musical, based on the 1967 Disney film, tells the story of Mowgli, a baby abandoned in the jungle, being raised by wolves. Mowgli is befriended by Bagheera the Panther and Baloo the Bear, who determine the jungle is too dangerous with Shere Kahn the Tiger and Kaa the Snake after him. Together they work to return him to the man village.
The show features Makayla Weesner as Mowgli, Adeline Schumacher as Bagheera and Lara Royko as Baloo. This year there are 20 students from grades 4-7 acting, singing, and dancing in the production.
The St. Ann Drama Club has been putting on shows in the community for 40 years. This production will be director DeeDee Bouzek’s 14th show at St. Ann’s. Previously under the direction of Sister Gertrude Hennessey, Bouzek has been the lead director since 2007.
The student directors are: Belinda Akale, Noah Kleitsch, Laura Perry, Sam Ross and Anja Royko. .
“Jungle Book KIDS” will run 7 p.m. Friday, May 20 and 1 p.m. Saturday May 21. All seats are reserved. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and children and are on sale now at showtix4u.com or can be purchased at the door.
