Syttende Mai 2018 Quilt and Hardanger shows

Hardanger made by Ruth Formey is displayed at the quilt and hardanger show at Syttende Mai 2018.

Hardanger embroidery or "Hardangersøm" is a form of embroidery traditionally worked with white thread on white even-weave linen or cloth.

From 3-4 p.m. on Dec. 4, Livsreise will host a gallery talk about this fine art with Stoughton’s own Hardanger teacher, Donna M. Olson. She’ll share different types of design such as flowers stitched with openwork stitches-spokes, crossed spikes, dove’s eyes, picots and split bar weaving.

If you’d like to learn about the art of counted-thread stitchery, plan to attend this free talk at the Norwegian Heritage Center, 277 W. Main St.
